From Dramatists Play Service/ Concord Theatricals: “It’s a dark and stormy night, and our cast of oddball characters has been invited to a very unusual dinner party. Each of the guests has an alias, the butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well, dead. So whodunit? Join the iconic oddballs known as Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock and Mustard as they race to find the murderer in Boddy Manor before the body count stacks up. Based on the cult classic film and the popular board game, Clue is a madcap comedy that will keep you guessing until the final twist. “
This play version of Clue features 11 actors: 5 women and 6 men, and we expect to cast 2-3 additional actors who will appear onstage in smaller roles.
4 women and 4 men play specific roles, and the other 4-5 actors will play multiple roles.
While the characters are identified specifically as male and female, actors should audition for the roles that best suit their gender identity.
To prepare to audition, actors can read the script or watch the 1985 cult classic film (available to stream for free through the library) to learn about the story and characters.
We will only hold one rehearsal this semester, so students who are studying abroad may audition for the show & join the cast even if they are not on campus this semester.
Audition in person on Thursday, November 12th at 7:00 p.m.
In the Studio Theater at 248 N. 3rd Street on the Arts Campus
(Shuttle service is available)
or
via video submission, due by 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12th
Initial auditions will be EITHER in person or as self-recorded video submissions. You do not need to do both.
If you choose to audition via video, you may use your phone or any recording device to film yourself with audio and video. Be sure to identify yourself in your video.
For your initial audition, you may audition with either:
– a 1-minute monologue or story (the story is a comic farce)
– two 30-second monologues or stories that show off your range as an actor. Monologues do not need to be memorized.
– Alternatively, the character of the butler, Wadsworth, has a lengthy monologue at the close of the show (the only one in the show). Actors of any gender can choose to read instead of a prepared monologue from another production.

YOU MUST COMPLETE THIS AUDITION FORM: Audition Information Form
There is a place on the form to submit your video.
If you plan to audition in person, you do not also need to submit a video audition.
E-mail Theater Department Administrative Coordinator Michael Wheaton (wheatonm@lafayette.edu) if you wish to get access to the script for the show.
Clue will run from Thursday, March 4th to Sunday, March 7th in the Weiss Theater in Buck Hall at Lafayette.
You must be available for all performances. All cast and crew positions are open, except for the stage manager, and academic credit can be earned for roles onstage and off.
Clue will rehearse Sunday afternoons and Monday through Thursday evenings in January and February, with additional times added during the final weeks before the show. Night classes may be able to be accommodated, but as it is a relatively short rehearsal period, we will need all the time we can, so you must clear any necessary absences during the week of the show only with your professor prior to casting in order to be part of the production.
