Based on the Puccini opera La Bohème, this contemporary classic explodes from a dingy, disheveled loft apartment in New York’s East Village and depicts “young … artists struggling to celebrate life in the shadow of drugs, poverty and AIDS,” according to Rolling Stone. Larson’s score blends pop, salsa, rhythm and blues, gospel and rock into one of America’s most compelling musicals. Winner of four Tony Awards in 1996 (including Best Musical and Original Score), and the Pulitzer Prize. Directed and choreographed by Mary Jo Lodge.
